This is a GENUINE CUSTOM SPORTING Rifle, made by MR. P.O. ACKLEY that has been "preserved" and unused for over 35 years, but yet ***"LIKE NEW"***. A rare sporting rifle for COLLECTORS, SPORT SHOOTERS or BIG GAME HUNTERS. I "VERY SERIOUSLY" doubt that you would ever find another one like it. ***The serial # is under 200***
This Custom made "Collector's Item" rifle was made in March 1971 by P.O. Ackley himself. I purchased it from him in Salt Lake City, Utah. It has never been owned by anyone else and has only been "Test Fired". As Audie Murphy said in his personal endorsement of this rifle, "This is no ordinary rifle."
SERIAL # AO190 / approximately 300 of these custom rifles were made. On this rifle only, P.O. Ackley's name is on the barrel from his private "made to order" stock.
~ P.O. Ackley world renowned barrel, hand-crafted from special chrome-moly crucible "Rockwell Tested" steel, with "5 twists". Making it one of the most accurate rifles available
~ His name is inscribed on the barrel
~ Famous stainless steel "Mauser" bolt action; "5 shot magazine load"; made in Zastava Yugoslavia
~ Stock: Bishop "fully cured" American Walnut Monte Carlo Stock, with a hand rubbed semi-gloss finish, styled cheek pad design and with recoil pad
~ Caliber / on the barrel it reads: P.O. Ackley SLC Utah - CAL 30-06
~ This rifle is equiped with a P.O. Ackley 3 x 9x 40 variable scope
**Audie Murphy Endorsement**
I also have an audio/visual personal endorsement by **Audie Murphy** of this rifle. The endorsement film was made in Salt Lake City, Utah. Audie Murphy was the most decorated American combat soldier of World War II. A celebrated movie star in the post war era, he made 44 movies (mostly westerns) and made the movie "To Hell & Back" which was a story of his military life and accomplishments. He died tragically in a private airplane accident in May of 1971, just 2 months after he made the P.O. Ackley rifle endorsement. I have never met a more courteous, sincere famous person in my life.
